Created in 1980, to make the processions and Crossbowmen's Federation events even more spectacular, they currently consist of the standard-bearer of the Republic, the gonfalon bearer, the bearer of the colours of the nine townships of the Republic (Città, Borgo Maggiore, Pennarossa, Faetano, Montegiardino, Fiorentino, Montelupo, Montecerreto and Serravalle), a pair of nobles for each township and four soldiers escorting the procession, for a total of 33 walk-ons.
The noble men and women also present a packed and elegant programme of "Renaissance dancing" choreographed by an expert teacher of historical dancing.
