Playing drums and clarions, they accompany the pageant procession, and mark the various stages of the shooting competitions and flag-throwing performances.
The music they play, especially the shrill notes of the clarions and roll of the drums, brings to mind the suggestive atmospheres, sounds and colours of far-off centuries.
The Musicians Group currently counts 32 members - 20 drummers and 12 trumpeters.
