The Flag-throwers Group was established in 1982 to enhance the spectacle already offered by the crossbowmen. They first appeared in public on 3 September 1983, with a very elegant exhibition and the use of drapes, hand painted by the ensigns themselves.
Today as yesterday, their performance re-enacts the need arising during battles to transmit, by means of flags and trumpets, the orders for recalling the troops to wherever the danger existed of being overcome by the enemy so as to avoid defeat.
The sheer skill and elegance of their performance has resulted in their being invited to numerous European countries, the U.S.A.. Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil and of course all over Italy.
