The San Marino Crossbowmen's Federation was established in 1956 to continue an ancient tradition, documented since the 14th century and tied to crossbow shooting competitions.
Today it consists of four groups: musicians, flag-throwers, walk-ons and marksmen, who periodically perform at home and abroad in ancient costumes and present, shooting competitions, flag-throwing performances, pageant shows and suggestive sounds and music from the past.
It often takes part in competitions with other historic crossbow groups to evoke the ancient tradition of large crossbow shooting from wooden shooting benches.
